Meet the team
Abi is a founder member of Propagate and a seasoned food activist. She has been working across community and local food projects since the mid-90s, and is passionate about food sovereignty and resilience. An experienced grower, facilitator, educator and researcher - Abi's inclusive and collaborative attitude encourages everyone to be involved. She lives in Dumfries and Galloway where most of her projects are based and has 2 grown up children who have left home.
Amy is Propagate's Finance Officer and is currently undertaking a bookkeeping and accountancy qualification. As a mum of two young children, she is inspired by permaculture as a way of building a better and more connected world for the next generation. She loves to grow and cook her own produce and is based in Dumfries and Galloway.
Beth has been gardening since her earliest years in Dumfries and Galloway. She has a background in solidarity work with migrants, and has lived and worked on organic farms and off-grid communities across Europe. She's passionate about working intersectionally and across borders, and belives that we can't build an effective movement for food justice and land access without working with other struggles for climate and social justice. She lives in Glasgow.
Carol has been a Propagate Director since 2017 and has been involved in community work for over twenty years. She is passionate about permaculture, encouraging others to think about what they eat and where their food comes from and supporting people to learn how to cook and grow their own food. Carol has worked and been involved many different community growing projects in Glasgow and elsewhere.
Cat is a professional musician, who believes in the power of music and food to bring people together. Mum to three young home educated wildlings. Qualified Children in Permaculture Practitioner and Permaculture Diploma Apprentice. She runs an outdoor group for children and their parents/carers in the woods. Cat is all about encouraging and supporting people to grow food in public spaces. Cat loves bringing people together and seeing friendships and connections being formed.
Dawn's background is in community development around health and wellbeing and resilience for individuals and community. She has worked within land based organisations as well as many health and social care organisations. Linking people to the food they eat and the wider environment has been the core of her personal and professional life and so is thrilled to be working with Propagate.
Jenny is a mother of two and passionate about building community and inspiring the next generation. She has worked as a community gardener and outdoor educator in Glasgow and New Zealand, and is happy to share tips from her imperfect life if it can help others!
Katie trained in permaculture design back in 2004 and has since worked as a community gardener and environmental educator supporting people of all ages and from all walks of life to connect with nature and learn to grow food and plants. She loves bringing people together with some tasty grub, music and a good story round a campfire and feels that the most important members of any group are the washer uppers and the tea makers. Katie lives with her wife and 9 year old son.
Lesley is very enthusiastic about good food and drink. Having gained a wealth of knowledge, over 20 years, in a variety of food businesses, working in new product development, sales and marketing roles. She now uses that knowledge as a health coach to educate people, and help them make changes using the power of real food for serious health benefits. Lesley is the Coordinator for the Galloway Food Hub.
Lucy has many years experience of working in education with a diverse range of learners and subject matter.
She has always grown food but since relocating to Scotland she has been able to fully embrace and develop her skills in sustainable production using regenerative practices on her 5 acre smallholding, alongside her partner Sam.
As well as working at Propagate in different supporting ways, she is always busy with community, food and permaculture projects.
She lives just outside of Whithorn.
Lusi is a permaculture educator, with a wealth of experience in outdoor education with adults and children. She is Propagate's Dumfries & Galloway Community Food Network Coordinator. She also leads Branching Out (nature connection for mental health), Forest Schools, Permaculture Design Courses, Children in Permaculture Courses, Teacher Training, Permaculture Consultations, and she tutors for the Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design. Lusi lives in Galloway with her teenage children.
Mary is a graduate from the Environmental Art Department at Glasgow School of Art. She has over 20 years experience exhibiting sculpture internationally. More recently she has been creating urban garden projects transforming disused brownfield sites to benefit the community and enhance biodiversity. She is the founder of Clover an organisation to generate the use of urban green spaces for community use, education and creative projects.
With a background in Art and design, Meg is passionate about weaving creativity into community food growing projects. Predominantly working in urban spaces, she has a particular interest in seed sovereignty as a form of empowering local communities. Meg has experience working with diverse groups on a range of projects across the UK and Europe, and is now based in Glasgow. She is often hill walking, swimming, or crafting.
Rozanna is an experienced community gardener and wildlife ecologist with knowledge of allotment gardening, wildlife gardening along with maintaining public spaces and practical conservation work.
She is passionate about permaculture, sustainable growing systems, perennial vegetables and forest gardens along with promoting access for all to community growing spaces for local and seasonal food at the heart of a community. She is based in North Lanarkshire.
Passionate about all things urban food, experienced facilitator and educator. Susan has a backyard full of chickens and vegetables on the Southside of Glasgow, and also looks after Propagate's social media.
Tamsin is an experienced administrator and event coordinator and has worked within cooperatives and charitable organisations for many years. She is passionate about food, nutrition and health and the environment. She has a particular interest in how ecologically produced, good local food can support individual and community health. She is mum to two young people, teaches yoga and can often be found exploring the land, lochs and beaches of Galloway.
